Finally a paddle that won't loose its coating . . . because it has none!

This is the cat's meow.

BTW if anyone is wondering. This item also fits the KitchenAid K45SS. That's what I have and I bought this on the chance it would fit and it does. So anyone who owns the K45. This fits.

1Not for heavy duty mixer users!
By Andrea M. Piquet
Let me start by saying I grew up with a Kitchen Aid...the old school models that came with a lifetime warranty (if only they still did!). The year before last my husband ordered the Anniversary Edition in Candy Apple Red and had it sent to me from Iraq (SO sweet!!!!!). It came with the glass bowl (which I just ordered a replacement for:(.....) and the burnished aluminum attachments. I personally didn't like the look of them...they look like cheesy chrome in my opinion. They're shiney and the seam/lip from the mold is very noticable. That being said I went with them because they were "trendy" looking.

I didn't pay attention to the user manual and left them soaking in the glass bowl in the sink with dawn and hot water. That was all it took. The manual says don't put them into the dishwasher...I didn't, but if you soak them AT ALL the finish comes right off and you get a dull metal look that leaves a grey residue in EVERYTHING (or so the kitchen aid customer service assosiate told me). I tried using Cameo(aluminum cleaner) and a green scrubbie to no avail...it was terrible. I HATED them. I finially called Kitchen Aid and expressed my irritation and recieved a coated paddle and dough hook for the price of one attachment.

I know most of you (by reading your reviews) HATE the old coated flat paddles....My mothers had pieces coming off of it ALL the time...but these are "NOT YO MOMMA'S" attachements! The shipping was fast and the coating on them feels more like metal and doesn't have the rubbery feel/give that the older models have. I have washed it dozens of times in the dishwasher...whacked it accidentally..the WHOLE nine and I don't have a scratch on it. Not one!

So long story short....If you plan to use yours heavily and rely on your dishwasher to really steam things clean...then don't bother with the aluminum....messy and irritating!

5This is what should have shipped with the Mixer!
By Katharine Kimbriel
I love my KitchenAid mixer, and was very upset when I found out that loaning it to someone meant the flat beater silicone coat came back with a slash in it! I found it reassuring that others had this happen through sheer use, but I think the burnished beater should have been the original one issued. I was leery from the first of putting the original into the dishwasher, but now I won't be putting any of my attachments into the dishwasher! I should close by saying that the company sent the part IMMEDIATELY and it arrived in perfect condition. Thank you for quality products and service!
