4The solution to a mixer with no action going on under power
By Darian P. Paganelli
Found an older Kitchenaid KSM5 (325 watt lift bowl mixer) in a used metal discard barrel at the landfill. No signs of outward damage, or excessive use. Always wanted one of these, did not want to pay the asking price ($300+). Took it home, plugged it in and NADA, dead box at first. .. After some trial and tribulation, checking every possibility, reading and research, inverted one of the brushes as a last resort. .. We roared to life. Seems someone less handy (or less lucky) than I had removed it and put it back in upside down. That killed the motor from running.

Now the motor ran, but no action on the beater drive or the auxilliary drive either. More research online. .. Internal gear train suspected of being bad. Watched a video, took the old KSM5 apart and there it was, a destroyed gear inside the mixer housing. Ordered a new gear train assembly and a spare gear too. We are on the road again. Cleaned and sterilized the old girl and we are sitting on the kitchen counter ready and willing.

Beats being tossed into a metal recycling barrel at the dump I guess. All you need is time, intelligence, curiosity and patience to correct some of the inequities which occasionally occur in life. Ciao for now.

5KitchenAid Mixer Repair
By Bunker
Took a while to find the gear assembly, but Amazon had it. Prompt shipping. When it came, it took about 10 minutes to fix the mixer and my Wife was back in business in the kitchen. A Wife without her mixer is not a happy camper. Thank you.

5easy repair
By Carmen
The KitchenAid mixer worm gear assembly came promptly. It was exactly what I needed to repair my mixer. I was able to repair the mixer my self after watching a video online. It was fast and easy. If your beaters don't turn this is what you need. I had never attempted to repair a mixer before but I saved a lot of money doinging it myself.
