FYI
By Smart Shopper
The KG25HOX has all metal gears and is made in the USA. I bought it because I wanted another 5-qt. bowl-lift model, and this is one of the last ones KitchenAid is making like that. In the future, all the 5-qt. models are going to have the tilt-head design, which I dislike due to the fact that the bowl gets stuck in the base and is very difficult to dislodge.
On 7/22/13, I bought the KG25HOX model, and had to return it because it was making a weird clicking noise. Before returning it, I called Kitchenaid. The first rep. said, "As long as it doesn't get any louder, it's okay." I knew it didn't sound normal because I've owned a KitchenAid stand mixer for over 20 years--first a KSM90, which I used for 6 years (which I sold when I moved back to the USA), and then a K5SS, which I have used for the past 15 years and still have. I bought the KG25HOX so I can give the K5SS to my daughter. I called Kitchenaid back that same day and spoke with a different rep., who agreed it's not normal and offered to replace it. The replacement I received does NOT make that noise, so I was right.
FWIW, the beaters that fit my K5SS also fit the KG25HOX. The bowls, however, are not interchangeable.
I like the mixer and hope it's as reliable as my trusty K5SS. Otherwise, I'm going to be a very unhappy camper! At least I bought it from Sam's Club, where I was able to use my Plus membership to buy a 3-year extended warranty. The Plus membership gives me an additional year on top of that, so the mixer is covered for 5 years.

Different from Tilt-Top
By Beth A. Hansen
If you are used to a tilt-top mixer, this will take some getting used to. You can't get a spatula in the bowl to scrape the sides. I love the adapter up front that allows me to attach grinders and other attachments.
