Essential grinding plates for your KitchenAid grinder. Fabulously dangerous.

I bought these enlarged grinding plates in order to make an old family apple/orange/cranberry salad recipe that requires grinding whole fruit down to kibble-sized pieces. The plates that come with the KitchenAid grider are far too fine for this task, and turn the fruit into puree. These plates and blade are high quality and perform the task beautifully. However, DANGER! These plates are the perfect size and shape to entice and remove curious finger tips in the blink of an eye. I nearly stuck my own finger in the front of this thing when I first fired it up, because it just looked so shiny and wonderful in there with all of that stainless steel spinning and whirring. I urge you to keep your grinder out of reach of all children and most adults when using these plates. Because nobody wants to go through life being referred to as "Stumpy".

works better than the stock equipment

Night and day improvement for the old workhorse stand mixer. Grinds meat like a champ now. Just remember that you want those meat chunks very very cold or even a little frozen. Also do yourself a favor and buy a sausage stuffer.

this set should be the basics

you should probably never need another disk. you can make chunky or smooth with this set. my machine was not strugling like it used to.
