Replacement

Bought this to replace original burnished beater that ended up getting ruined in the dishwasher by accident. I understand this coating is to make this dishwasher safe but I think I will avoid that if at all possible. Just in case a mistake occurs and gets run through the dishwasher I feel confident I won't have to buy another one. As with other commenters make sure you get the correct replacement model or you could be quite frustrated. I cross-referenced this model on the kitchen-aid website to avoid any mistakes and have the right one.
